Duston Players - Social and other events

In addition to performing 3 act plays and pantomimes,  the Duston Players like to socialize and take part in other local events.

Some of the events from previous years have been listed below and more details or pictures could follow at a later date.

When we're not rehearsing or performing we have been enjoying ourselves as follows:

• December 2000 - Christmas Meal at the Globe Hotel Weedon, attended by many of the players and partners. This was an enjoyable evening, especially for those who stayed the night to avoid drinking and driving.
  - A number of  the Players also gathered at New Year parties one of which was held a day early.
  
• November 2000 - Not satisfied with seeing each other at rehearsals twice a week, eight of the players and two partners went on a weekend trip to York. Despite the floods they had a good time and spent the whole weekend learning their lines. ( Thats what they told me to say!)
  
• Late October 2000 - A Halloween Housewarming - Lucy (alias 'Griselda de Black' in December 2000 production) and John held a housewarming party, but as it was also halloween some of the players could not resist a little makeup and costume. (Pictures may follow shortly)
  
• October 2000 - Car Rally. This most enjoyable event, organised by Debbie and George, managed to find the only dry sunny day in a week of awful rainy weather. Tim Dwelly and his team ('The Maniacs') won it, despite having difficulties in finding the starting point. I would have disqualified them, but that's mainly because my team, consisting of Glynis, Kate, Emily and myself came second. Pam and Freda 'won' the booby prize but there was only two of them in the car against four in most of the others.
  
• July 2000  - Duston Players held a Millenium garden party for players and friends. Games were played on the lawn, then we all retired to the marquee where much food and drink was consumed followed by an evening of entertainment from a young local band called "Rein". Everyone enjoyed themselves and some had the hangovers next day to prove it - I can't wait to see the photos !

Mamma Mia - here we go again

• April 2000 - Yes the players went to London by Coach - to see Mamma Mia in the West end. Another good reason for being a Duston Player. (Click here to see a couple of  ABBA impersonators)
  

• 1999 - 2000   Millennium Party

• Dec 1999 - Xmas Party
  

• Dec 1999 - "Christmas Cracker 2", a series of sketches, songs and readings was performed on Friday December 17th 1999 at the Duston Community Centre
  

• 1999 - Loitering within Kent ?  (Actually this was a visit by a number of the members to an Ex-Duston Player now resident in Sittingbourne, and performing with the Brenchley House Players.)

• 1999 - Narrow boat trip. (where we narrowly missed falling overboard)

• 1996 - 50th Anniversary Dinner
